Saving Our Food Begins with You

Fresh, safe, local foods have a special place in our lives. And our need for agriculture is as critical as when Virginia colonists started farming 400 years ago.

Agriculture is Virginia’s first and largest industry, and Virginia farmers are proud of that. But their farms and your food could become threatened if we don’t all take steps to preserve them.

It’s a cause that’s as personal as your plate!

Do you have a favorite market or farm where you buy fresh, local food? Don't see it in our fresh food locator? Please send your suggestions and recommendations to marketsuggestions@saveourfood.org

What if all the foods your family enjoyed—fresh, ripe tomatoes, juicy peaches and watermelon, steaks and burgers on the grill—were available only from foreign countries?

It might sound far-fetched, even ridiculous.

But while Americans are becoming more and more interested in fresh, locally grown foods, more and more American farms are being lost each year.

Becoming a member of Virginia Farm Bureau is a simple yet powerful way to put your support squarely behind the farms that produce your family’s food.
