2010 Save Our Food Summer Festival

UPDATE: With more hot weather forecast for this Sunday, organizers have announced that most of the Save Our Food Summer Festival -- including musical entertainment, all children's activities and the Virginia food and wine showcase -- will be held in the air-conditioned comfort of the Farm Bureau Center exhibition hall. All planned events will be held as scheduled.
_____
Live music, fresh produce, flavorful Virginia wines, unbeatable barbecue and more can be found at Virginia Farm Bureau’s second food festival.
The Save Our Food Summer Festival will be held noon to
6 p.m. on July 25 at the Farm Bureau Center exhibition hall at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.
The event will feature a barbecue cook-off, a showcase
of local food, wine and specialty gifts from across the state, and a large farmers’ market.
Jackass Flats, Susan Greenbaum and The Venture Rays will perform during the event.

A hands-on children’s area, produced by the Children’s
Museum of Richmond, will offer young visitors a place to learn more about agriculture and healthy eating.
Farm Bureau members will be admitted free when they present their membership cards, and admission for other guests will be $10 per vehicle.
The festival is presented by Virginia Farm Bureau and sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the Children’s Museum of Richmond, Flavor magazine, the Goochland Center for Rural Culture, Richmond magazine, WWBT-12, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co.
Restaurants, wineries and other vendors interested in participating can contact Denise Bird at 804-217-8102 or birdmarketing@aol.com.

There are two levels of vendor participation for the Save Our Food Summer Festival:
A true farmers' market—you bring your own 10x10 tent (or rent one from our partner provider), as well as tables and chairs, etc., for an outdoor market space similar to those at farmers' markets across the state;
OR
An indoor vendor showcase space, similar to those at food/wine or specialty events, where your vendor fee includes a 10x10 piped & draped area in the Farm Bureau Center.
Event Application
Both areas will attract a great deal of walk-up traffic, helping you to showcase your products.
If you are interested in being a Farmers' Market participant, please contact Denise Bird at birdmarketing@aol.com
