Your membership helps serve your community

There are 88 county Farm Bureaus in Virginia, each with an interest in serving their respective communities. When you become a member, you play an important part in supporting the following Farm Bureau activities on the local level:

  • educational farm tours and other family events that offer opportunities to visit farms;
  • safety demonstrations that address risks associated with home and property maintenance and farm work;
  • fun and educational activities at county fairs to emphasize to children that some of their food is produced in their home counties;
  • donations of agriculture-related books and other materials to local elementary schools and libraries; and
  • charitable food drives that benefit families in need.
  • Your membership also helps thousands of children in Virginia elementary and middle schools learn about how agriculture touches their lives every day.

    Many county Farm Bureaus actively support the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, a nonprofit organization that works with teachers who incorporate agriculture into their Standards of Learning curricula. In the 2008-2009 school year, the foundation held free workshops for nearly 1,900 teachers statewide.
